Twisted Perceptions.

Designer: Grace-Marie Cooney

This collection was inspired by the feeling of self-perception and feeling a sense of lack of control around your own emotions.

For this collection, I used all deadstock materials to create my looks. Nurturing and repurposing thrown-away materials and giving them new life. I used all scraps and cut-offs from my the production process to make hand-twisted rope is the primary design element in this collection. The rope symbolizes the feeling of constriction by one’s materials. On a sustainable level, the rope takes the scraps from the collection, and brings them back into the collection, while advancing the design.

This collection was a journey of working through the emotions connected to one’s perception of oneself. All the turbulence, frustration, and confusion that comes with that is represented by the rust color. throughout the collection, neutrals are incorporated representing the shift of perception. Ultimately the conclusion is found in the designs and seen through the sage green pallet.
